What to Expect?

At My Big Buddy, our expectations of our male nannies (“Buddies”) are no different to what you would expect from any high-quality professional nanny. Their first and most important responsibility is, of course, the children in their care. Beyond that, our Buddies bring energy, reliability, and a “can-do” attitude to a wide range of household and family tasks.

Here’s an overview of the support they can provide:

Childcare responsibilities

  • Day-to-day care, supervision, and wellbeing of your children.
  • School and nursery drop-offs/pick-ups, after-school care, and evening routines.
  • Support with developing good habits, routines, and social skills.

Child-related household responsibilities

  • Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe organisation for the children.
  • Tidying bedrooms, playrooms, and communal play spaces.
  • Preparing healthy children’s meals and snacks.

Organisation and diary management

  • Booking and accompanying children to doctor, dentist, or other appointments.
  • Arranging play dates and coordinating extracurricular activities.
  • Planning and helping to host birthday parties or special events.
  • Packing and unpacking school bags, sports kits, and overnight bags.

Education and learning support

  • Assistance with homework, projects, and reading practice.
  • Encouraging creativity through arts, crafts, music, or drama.
  • Helping children to develop independence and problem-solving skills.

Entertainment and activity planning

  • Organising indoor and outdoor games, sports, and activities.
  • Planning fun outings such as museum trips, park visits, or play centres.
  • Keeping children engaged and active during school holidays.

Family support

  • Walking the dog, feeding pets, or helping with pet care.
  • Running errands such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning, or parcel collection.
  • Helping to arrange car servicing, household repairs, or deliveries.

In addition – Practical “handyman” help (if previously agreed and not at the same time as when responsible for children)

Being a reliable extra pair of hands around the home.

Tackling light DIY such as hanging pictures, building flat-pack furniture, or painting touch-ups.

Assisting with gardening, tidying outdoor spaces, or seasonal jobs.
