Childcare continuity without
employment responsibility
Memberships are an excellent choice for families who value continuity and familiarity for their children, but who do not wish to employ a permanent male nanny. At My Big Buddy, we refer to our part time male child carers as a Buddy. They are self-employed professionals who may work with more than one family and often balance their childcare work alongside other studies or careers.
The strength of our membership model lies in its flexibility. Some families choose to work with just one Buddy, creating a strong, consistent relationship that fits seamlessly into their family life. Others prefer to have one main Buddy supported by additional Buddies on occasion—offering both stability and flexibility as family schedules evolve.
Memberships allow families to arrange ongoing bookings—such as three school pick-ups a week or a regular Saturday playdate—while enjoying the reassurance of continuity without the stress, responsibility, or extra commitment of direct employment.
The membership model offers excellent value for money. Unlike permanent placements, there is no percentage fee linked to a Buddy’s salary. Instead, you simply select the tier of membership that suits your needs and enjoy high-quality, flexible childcare at a fair and transparent cost.
Tier 1 Annual Membership
Tier 1 members are entitled to a maximum of two bookings per week.
Tier 2 Annual Membership
Tier 2 members are entitled to a maximum of four bookings per week or unlimited school holidays.
Tier 3 Annual Membership
Tier 3 members are entitled to unlimited bookings per week.
Membership Information
- If a member occasionally needs more bookings than their tier allows, any additional bookings can be booked on a casual basis.
- Members can upgrade to a higher tier if they feel they need to and the price difference will be charged pro rata for the rest of the membership year.
- Buddies are self employed and will invoice for hours work. Buddies are usually paid weekly.
- Buddies often balance childcare alongside other work or commitments – there may be times when they are unable to continue long term. If that happens, My Big Buddy will do everything possible to support a smooth transition and help find a new Buddy as per the terms of the membership; aiming to maintain continuity and reassurance for your family.
- If members would like their Buddy to stay on beyond the first 12 months, they will need to renew their membership. Renewing ensures the arrangement continues smoothly without interruption.
My Big Buddy also provides full time employed Mannies and Casual bookings.
