The Criminal Records Bureau is an Executive Agency of the Home Office and it provides access to criminal record information from the Police National Computer. This CRB check is mandatory for all persons who come in contact with children through their work, it is also applicable to those who work with the elderly or other deemed vulnerable in society.
How long does it take?
It can take a minimum of one week and up to a maximum of four months depending on the circumstances and demand.
How long are they valid for?
They are only valid to the day they are produced, so each person needs to apply for a new CRB upon each change of employment. It is proven that once an application and completed process has been made and is in the system further applications are processed faster.
How do I apply for one?
You must be a resident in the UK for at least 6 months and applications can be submitted through My Big Buddy" the agency. "My Big Buddy" is part of an independent umbrella organization, registered with the Criminal Records Bureau. You will be advised to contact the organization and then take the necessary process for completion of discloser statement.
What is the Agency's Policy on CRB checks?
All Big Buddy's must have a CRB check on file with "My Big Buddy" before commencing a play date. A CRB check is mandatory as is the checking of all references.
A CRB form can be obtained from the agency upon registration.
